Manufacturing Process
Brine Purification
Sodium chloride brine is purified by precipitation of calcium, magnesium, and iron impurities using sodium carbonate and caustic soda
Electrolysis (Membrane Cell)
The purified brine is electrolysed in membrane cell technology. The membrane separates the cell into anolyte (chlorine production) and catholyte (NaOH formation) compartments
Caustic Formation
At the cathode, water is reduced to hydrogen gas and hydroxide ions. Sodium ions migrate through the membrane and combine with hydroxide to form NaOH
Concentration
The dilute NaOH (30-33%) is concentrated in a multiple-effect evaporator system to 48-50% for liquid caustic, or further to 99% for solid forms
Flaking (Solid Form)
The molten 99% NaOH is fed to a flaking drum where it solidifies into thin flakes. The flakes are broken to the required size
Cooling & Packaging
Flakes are cooled in a nitrogen-purged cooling conveyor and packed immediately in moisture-proof HDPE-lined bags to prevent carbonation
QC Testing
Each batch is tested for assay (acid titration), sodium carbonate, chloride, sulphate, iron, and heavy metals
Storage
Store in airtight containers in a cool dry environment. Avoid exposure to CO₂ and moisture to prevent carbonation
